Home for the Holidays....

Personally, I flippin' LOVE the holiday season!  Everything just feels so magical, warm, and whimsical.  Now doing retail with our Unglued: Market we get to start super early with planning especially with downtown meetings (downtown is going to illuminate the heck out of the holidays!!).  It seems like the holiday season is even longer now which is a total bonus!

Our first holiday event is actually outside the shop where we got to decorate for "Home for the Holidays."

This is an event by local sorority Alpha Gamma Delta where businesses from the area decorate 5 homes with their shop items and the tickets to attend raise money for the Cass Clay BackPack Program (so awesome!!).

Holland's Gift & Garden Shoppe in Moorhead invited us to decorate the front porch of a completely beautiful Moorhead home!  There were 2 sides to the porch - a cozy couch and chill area and an adorable little table area.  The kids who live at the house use the table area to do their artwork and homework...

With a little bit of burlap and little bit of our pretty origami cranes, Kristina and I went with a blue-ish theme for winter and kept it decorated for both the holidays and winter all with items from Unglued.  There are so many simple things you can do with burlap & twine & sweet handmade products!

With twine hanging from floral washi tape, cards can be displayed in a small area where you can still so easily take them down to read and enjoy.

Our hostess for the coffee/wine table was totally adorable in her "Hello Sailor" cocktail apron and Robin's Egg Cupcake Necklace.

We are especially stoked for our first supply of Christmas stockings!!  Complete with woodland animals and their houndstooth scarves...

A few weeks ago an Unglued shopper donated this sweet vintage tree...can't wait to have it at the shop!

Blues are so pretty to use for Christmas time.  I'm sure there's a whole smattering of blues-decorating ideas on Pinterest to get your DIY on!

If you're interested in checking out the rest of this gorgeous house and the 4 others they are open Sat & Sun this weekend from noon-5pm.  Tickets are $20 with the proceeds going to the Cass Clay BackPack Program.  Tickets can be purchased at Baker Nursery Garden & Gift, Holland's, Northern Home, Scheels, and Unglued!

Craft Fest 2013 Applications are OPEN!

Unglued: Craft Fest 2013 applications are now open now through December 13, 2012 at 11pm HERE.  Be sure to have a complete application including having a website with photos of your work on the app or emailing 3-5 photos of your work to ungluedcraftfest@gmail.com by Dec. 13, 2012 at 11pm!

We take our feedback after each fest very seriously and change things each year to give both our crafters and shoppers an even more awesome experience.  So...(drumroll)...Unglued: Craft Fest 2013 is going to have a fancy shopping night Friday, February 22 from 5pm-8pm in addition to a full, fun day Saturday, February 23 from 9am-5pm!

We have been working with our host for the craft fest, Plains Art Museum, to make this quite spectacular.  Tickets for Friday night will be $10 and will include some pretty awesome things including an exclusive preview (and shopping) of all the booths, a drink ticket, and appetizers.  More info will continue to be announced as we get closer to February!  Saturday will remain totally free and include swag bags, Golden Tickets, free workshops, music, and more!

Want to be a part of this?!  Here's some tips for applying to the craft fest:
*Show us your best work!  Be sure if you link a website on your application that it leads us to at least 3-5 great photos of your work!  If you are submitting photos, be sure they are high quality.  If the photo is crappy, it's tough to see the workmanship and quality of the products.

*We LOVE when a crafter has a consistent "feel" to their products.  Whether you are doing greeting cards or sewing coffee clutches it has a cohesive style and vibe.

*If you are a returning crafter be sure to show us progress and growth in your work.  For a lot of you Unglued was maybe your first craft fair (or indie craft fair!) and hopefully propelled your creative business!  Because of this, at least 1/3+ booths are reserved for new crafters which means we can't accept all the work we absolutely love especially if it is exactly the same as before...so please be sure to include in your application progress, growth, change, or newness to your work!

*Our focus for Unglued is modern or "indie" crafts.  If it is something that would sell well at a street fair or traditional craft fair, it typically is not chosen for this type of fest.

*Some categories are more competitive than others.  For instance, hair clips and jewelry have been popular the past 2 years - as have items with birds and moustaches!  If it seems you fall into categories or styles that have more competition, be sure to show us how you are unique.

We are getting our FAQ section updated again so check there first if you have questions!  Otherwise please email us at ungluedcraftfest@gmail.com!

Thank you so much for your interest in Unglued: Craft Fest!!  We can't wait!!
{until then be sure to visit our brand spankin' new shop, Unglued: Market at 408 Broadway in Fargo!}

A Laid Back Saturday!

Whew, it's been a whirlwind!  We're ready for a laid back Saturday that we'd love for you to come and share with us...

Saturday is our craft-iest day!  Both to get creative and to learn from a full-time crafter if it's something you're interested in going into or hearing more about...

We are hosting our first ever Coffee with a Crafter at 10:15am in our cafe area.  Dana Holscher of botny will be interviewed by us to share about going fulltime with her hand drawn earrings here in Fargo this past October!  If you are a crafter yourself at any level or wanting to get motivated to start, come and you will get a cup of Peace coffee with us and get inspired.

That afternoon we'll be also hosting Be Crafty where particpants will make 4 crafty projects!  This class is actually full, but watch for another Be Crafty coming to Unglued December 1!

It's pretty sweet - our Be Crafty participants will all be entered in a drawing for this super nifty stuff from our vendors + our sponsor for the workshop (Modern Textiles!):

There's a whole amazing gift pack from BabyCakes Designs (we are in love with her etsy so you should check it out!)

More AMAZING bath bombs from Pisces Pieces!

And the most amazing fabric both for use for the bunting banner project and a giveaway from Modern Textiles!

We also brewed up a "knock your socks off" cold pressed coffee for a limited time so be sure to ask about that when you stop in.

Peace Coffee roasts the beans in Minneapolis - they are 100% organic Fairtrade and super yummy. Check out what they have to say about the Yeti blend:
"Imagine a giant, furry beast covered in thick white fur. Enormous feet leave occasional prints in the snowy Himalayas, or in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest (or maybe that's his cousin, the Sasquatch). Is he real? It doesn't really matter. We've felt the chill on a hot day, and glimpsed an elusive hint of smoke.

This blend is formulated for adventures: caramel and dark chocolate notes play pleasingly between sweet and rich. Crafted as a recipe for the perfect cup of cold press coffee, it's also delicious however you brew it."

Saturday we do close at our normal time of 6pm so be sure to stop in before that to grab a last minute cupcake!

Find more events coming to Unglued on our Facebook page here!  We totally love hosting events and workshops so even more will be getting posted on our Facebook site soon.  Be sure to preregister for classes if you are interested to ensure you can participate!  Our website (ungluedmarket.com) is under construction, but watch for a brand spankin' new one coming in early-ish October or so!!

Friday's Shenanigans!

We love Fridays at Unglued!  But...not a whole lot is going to beat this Friday for our grand opening festivities set for the day!

We are most excited about 6pm-9pm Friday (open late again!) where cupcakes from Bakeology will be $1 off!  Limit is 1 per person so we can share the cupcake love <3 and while supplies last.  Come & meet the crew behind Bakeology, too, during those hours.  They are the best cupcakes we've ever had!  Seriously, even Justin has offered to give people their money back if it's not the best cupcake they have ever tasted...and no one has taken a refund yet!

By request, we also brewed up a cold pressed batch of Yeti blend from Peace Coffee!  This stuff will knock your socks off so if you need a pick-me-up, come visit us while it lasts!  ($2 a cup, but $1.50 with cupcake purchase!).

All day we'll have a free DIY (do-it-yourself) table set up to make felt creations until about 5:30pm.  You'll have photo tutorials to walk you through felt flowers for your hair, necklaces, brooches, and even shoe clips.

More giveaways will be happening at 6pm for all shoppers who registered that day!  Check these gems out:

Lilac Wood Pen from Turning Pro

Flower Headband from Tiny Squish

Bath Bombs and Dustin Powder from Pisces Pieces

Fargo Mug from us at Unglued (no, sorry, awesome monster from M is for Miche not included.  he's a really great model, though)

Come, grab a $1 off cupcake, some Peace coffee, and listen to Fargo's songstress, Diane Miller at 7pm!

Well, that should keep you out of trouble for awhile!  'Til tomorrow's update on Saturday we'll catch you later!

Big News!

Some of you may have already heard, but just for all the world to know - Unglued will have a permanent home downtown Fargo!!  We are thrilled to be a 1/2 block north of the historic Fargo Theater and next to c.lizzy's and Zandbroz (fantastic art/gift shops) and a part of the awesome downtown community.

Unglued will be open at the new location at 408 Broadway for a sneak peek during the huge Fargo Street Fair July 19-21 - be sure to stop by!  Cupcakes will also be available from the new Bakeology (they are amazing).  Unglued will also be at the opposite end of Broadway for ONE DAY ONLY at the grassy knoll of Broadway and Main Avenue on Thursday, July 19 from 10am-9pm.  20 crafters, artists, and makers will be under the big top that day so you can meet some of the shop's crafters in person and buy from them directly that day, too!

Watch our Facebook and Street Fair event page for updates on live music, workshops, and more that will be happening that weekend.  We'll be preparing to fully open in early August with more details to come!

(Have you seen this video on Unglued: Craft Fest 2012 from Shane Reetz?  It's amazing!)

Recap of Unglued: Craft Fest 2012!

"buy creative. get inspired."

The second annual Unglued: Craft Fest overflowed downtown Fargo this February 25, 2012! Hosted at the beautiful Plains Art Museum we couldn't have asked for a more inspiring venue. 65 vendors from the area and region filled all 3 floors of the museum following the walls and creating islands of booths throughout it.

We were so impressed by the beautiful, unique displays the vendors created adding a fun & fresh touch to a craft fest. We hosted a booth contest and had our volunteers and sponsors vote for their favorite set ups. Some sweet prizes were awarded from Unglued & Crafty Planet!

Yellow Umbrella (also an amazing shop in Bemidji!) won 1st place for "Most Awesome Booth" -

Kelly Hanson Handmade of the Twin Cities won 2nd Most Awesome Booth Display -

We love how crafters, makers, and artists can be together in such a beautiful place downtown Fargo showcasing their best, creative handiwork for the area to experience. Gallery admission was free that day for attendees to additionally explore this gem of a museum - and get a break from the crowd!

Not only was there shopping to be had, but a variety of workshops were held again this year for both kids and adults to be inspired. From a Tiny Terrarium Class by Station House Studios for adults to learning to handstitch an owl for kids, new skills were gained to take home and get creative.

And back this year was a variety of musicians to discover and enjoy, creating a vibrant, bustling atmosphere for attendees, hosted by Dive 95.

Raschelle Schottmuller

Ian Johnson

Joel Marchand

We are always just blown away by the creativity that is emerging all over the region...here's a little more photo overload for your enjoyment!::

The feedback we are getting from our vendors & attendees is just awesome! If you have any thoughts or ideas, be sure to email us at ungluedcraftfest@gmail.com. We have a lot of good feedback to consider as there is a big interest in a summer fest, 2 day fest, permanent shop, workshops, & holiday fun. We'd love to hear from you!

Be sure to watch here, on our website, and especially our Facebook for the easiest way to stay updated on what's to come and next fest dates/venue/application! We can't wait...

Thank you to everyone who attended (about 3,000 of you!) and made this day an exciting celebration of everything creative! Thank you so very much to our sponsors, too, and please be sure to show them your support. Plains Art Museum, High Plains Reader, Dunn Bros, Dive 95, Crafty Planet, Gatecity Bank, Prairie Yarns, Nordic Needle, and Station House Studios. Thank you to Nate Nolting of Withremote for our awesome poster design this year...and to our fantastic group of volunteers - this day never would have gone as smooth as it did without you!!
